This section is about Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) migration. This is not about quantum computer itself, but about aspects related to migration from conventional cryptography to PQC.
In short, certain types of cryptographic algorithms are expected to be broken by the quantum computers when sufficiently powerful ones become available. This situation requires migrating to new algorithms that are resistant to quantum computers.
I plan to write blogs, mainly focusing on the difficulties of migrating to new post-quantum algorithms. This includes theoretical aspects as well as practical issues upon migration to such algorithms. This is likely going to be a bit winding story to describe this, but I hope this is helpful to understand the whole PQC migration issue. The following is the expected list of blog topics.
- Part 1: Background 1 – motivations
- Part 2: Background 2 – mathematically hard problems
- Part 3: NIST PQC algorithm standardization
- Part 4: Characteristics of the standardized signature algorithms
- Part 5: PQC migration and its difficulties
- Part 6: …
